Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani GoldStars, Akwasi Adu, says his side’s performance in the CAF Champions League will not be hindered by playing their home fixtures away from Bibiani.
The Miners have settled on the Accra Sports Stadium as their temporary home ground for the continental campaign after the Dun’s Park failed to meet CAF’s required standards.
GoldStars open their campaign against Algerian giants JS Kabylie in the first leg of the preliminary round on Saturday, September 20, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
“Playing away from home will not affect our performance in Africa. We have been playing on Ga land and we had our preseason in Accra,” Mr. Adu told Spoty FM.
He added that the presence of defender Vincent Atinga, who hails from Accra, has further endeared the team to fans in the capital.
“We know Vincent Atinga is an Accra guy, and so we have received good support here, so it will not be a problem. We will miss playing at home, but we will be well prepared to play in Accra,” he noted.
GoldStars will travel to Algeria for the return leg on Friday, September 26.
