The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted an Ad Hoc Committee to monitor and regulate the conduct of aspiring presidential candidates, their campaign teams, and supporters ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The move follows a meeting between the Council and the aspirants on September 11, 2025.
The committee’s mandate includes ensuring that campaigns are conducted with dignity and unity, in line with the traditions of the party. It will also monitor the comments and actions of aspirants and their supporters, receive petitions on hate speech and insults, and recommend sanctions — including disciplinary action — where necessary.
The committee is chaired by Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi, with Dr. Alex Glover-Quartey, Mr. Ato Hamilton, Mr. Kwadwo Afari, and Mr. Mark Opoku, who will serve as secretary.
Chairman of the Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, urged all aspirants and their supporters to cooperate with the committee to ensure a peaceful and decorous campaign process that strengthens party unity ahead of the 2026 general elections.
