Piesie Esther reveals Kuami Eugene’s role in crafting ‘Nyame Ye’

Award-winning gospel sensation, Piesie Esther, has shed light on the creative process behind her hit song Nyame Ye, revealing that Kuami Eugene played a key role in shaping the final piece.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Piesie Esther noted that while she had written the majority of the lyrics, she felt there was a missing link that only Kuami Eugene could fill.

“While recording, I just knew the song needed a Kuami Eugene effect,” she recalled with a smile. “I called him, and he scheduled a session for me. I went and sang my rehearsed lines on Nyame Ye, and immediately he knew the missing factor. He chipped in some lines and added his unique touch, and I just knew we had created magic.”

She explained that Eugene’s contribution transformed the project by injecting energy, polish, and a hook that elevated the record into a masterpiece.

“What impressed me most was his instinctive understanding of what the record lacked, as well as the production effect and hook to make it stand out,” she said.

According to her, Eugene worked with her seamlessly, both in Ghana and during his international travels, proving his dedication to the craft.

“That’s when I realized that music writing is not just about talent; it comes with its own special grace,” she added.

When asked about secular artistes writing for gospel musicians, Piesie Esther stressed that songwriting transcends genre boundaries.

“It takes the grace of God for one to be blessed with such talent,” she remarked.
