No change, still maintain – Ashanti NPP declares as Bawumia ends 3-Day tour

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have declared their unflinching support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy as the party prepares for its flagbearer contest on January 31, 2026.

During a three-day tour of the region, Dr. Bawumia engaged zonal constituency executives, MPs, and Councils of Elders, with strong backing from several youth groups. Across the engagements, delegates reaffirmed their support with chants such as “No change,” “Bawumia, no challenger,” “Bawumia is the only one we know,” and “Chart no ato! Bawumia is the man.”

At separate meetings in Adansi Akrofuom, Bekwai, Konongo, Effiduase, Mampong, Offinso, Abuakwa, and Ahodwo, constituency executives praised Dr. Bawumia’s deep thinking, hard work, and humility.

They described him as a visionary leader with problem-solving ideas — qualities they said both the NPP and Ghana need.

In interviews, several MPs, constituency executives, and members of the Councils of Elders insisted Dr. Bawumia was the party’s best option to reclaim power from the NDC in 2028.

They argued that history shows Ghanaian voters are more likely to back candidates on their second attempt, and replacing the 2024 candidate would weaken the NPP’s chances in the 2028 general elections.

Expressing gratitude for the endorsement, Dr. Bawumia urged a contest of ideas and vision, stressing the need for unity after the primaries.

The former Vice President began his three-day constituency executives’ engagement in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10.
