Nana Akomea dismisses claims of NPP delegates switching to Kennedy Agyapong

Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has dismissed claims that delegates are abandoning former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in favour of Kennedy Agyapong ahead of the party’s 2026 flagbearer primaries.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Akomea stressed that endorsements for Dr. Bawumia continue to grow, coming from former ministers, Members of Parliament, grassroots members, and even the Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

“People are eager to endorse, speak for, and campaign for him. The shift of one individual’s alliance does not reflect the views of the entire populace. Some aspirants contested against Bawumia in the previous primaries, but they still lost.

“In fact, the endorsements for Bawumia from former ministers, MPs, grassroots members, and even the Deputy Speaker have exceeded expectations. The support is strong,” he said.

His comments come after former Western North Regional Minister and member of Team Ken 2026, Joojo Rocky Obeng, claimed on the same programme that Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign is gaining momentum due to its improved organisation and structure compared to his previous attempt.
