Obra Show: Man absconds after defiling and impregnating a 13-year-old girl

A 13-year-old girl has been defiled and impregnated by a young man her mother sheltered after he became homeless.

The case was revealed on Nhyira FM’s Obra show after the accused fled the community where he had been staying with the family.

According to the victim, the man began sleeping with her when she was 10 years old.

“He proposed to me the very first day he came to work on my mother’s farm. From that day, he kept asking me to come to his room, and we slept together on several occasions,” she said. “I was ten years old” she responded when the host asked how old she was at the time.

She alleged that the man often lured her into the room he shared with his sister.

“There were times his sister was around, but she never said anything. Anytime I went there, he gave me ten Ghana cedis, and I used that to take care of myself,” she added.

The victim’s mother said she only agreed to accommodate the young man and his sister at their request, but they paid her back painfully.

“I thought I was helping someone in need. I never imagined he could do such a thing to my daughter,” she explained.

The woman said she became suspicious when her daughter’s behavior began to change. “I confronted him because I noticed something different about my child. He told me he had not seen her with any other man apart from himself, which confirmed my fears,” she said.

The accused is reported to have admitted responsibility for the pregnancy but has since disappeared.

Efforts to reach him have so far been unsuccessful. His sister, however, has promised to assist in locating him.

Speaking on the show, host Ohemaa Benewaa vowed to pursue the case until the suspect is brought to justice. “We will by all means get this man and put him behind bars. He cannot take advantage of someone’s child and run away,” she declared.

Ohemaa also blamed the victim’s mother for negligence. “As a mother, you should have been more vigilant. This could have been prevented if you paid closer attention,” she said.

The matter has since been referred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and legal action.
