The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye, on charges of offensive conduct likely to breach public peace.
In a brief statement released on Monday, September 8, the Police said the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was taken into custody earlier in the day and is currently being held.
Although full details of the incident that prompted the arrest were not disclosed, it comes amid growing public scrutiny of the outspoken politician in recent weeks.
The Police indicated that Abronye will be brought before the court in the coming days.
Separately, Abronye has formally petitioned several foreign embassies—including those of Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Canada—seeking political asylum.
