2026 WCQ: Shut up – Sannie Daara slams Kofi Adams over Black Stars budget release

Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has criticised Sports Minister Kofi Adams for publicly revealing the Black Stars’ budget ahead of crucial World Cup qualifying matches.

His comments follow Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Chad in Matchday 7 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Jordan Ayew gave the Black Stars an early lead in the 17th minute, but Celestine Ecau equalised late in the game, leaving both sides with a point.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Sannie Daara questioned the timing of the minister’s disclosure.

“Which military in the history of mankind has been so foolish to announce the reduction of salaries for soldiers before a war? The timing of the Black Stars’ budget was completely needless,” he argued.

He added that even members of the Minister’s own party, the NDC, were disappointed with the move.

Sannie Daara further urged the Buem MP to refrain from actions that could distract the national team.

“The Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, should shut up. He should let the Black Stars players focus on the World Cup qualifiers,” he said.

The Black Stars have returned home to prepare for Matchday 8 against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT.

Despite the disappointing draw against Chad, Ghana remain top of Group I with 16 points.
