Bryan Acheampong is a strong candidate; but… – Tampuli

Deputy Ranking Member of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Alhassan Tampuli, has described Bryan Acheampong as a strong potential leader within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but noted that the timing is not yet right for him to seek the party’s flagbearership.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, August 30, the Gushegu MP said Mr Acheampong possesses the political and leadership qualities needed for higher office but argued that the NPP must be strategic in determining when he should step forward.

“Bryan is a strong candidate; nobody can deny his credentials,” Mr Tampuli stated.

“But I believe the timing isn’t right for him just yet. Politics is about preparation and context, and it is important to build at the right moment.”

Mr Tampuli stressed that former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remains the best-placed individual to lead the NPP at this time, pointing to his extensive grassroots engagement across the country.

“Dr Bawumia has been to every constituency in Ghana for over five years. That experience and connection with the base make him the better person to lead the party now,” he said.
