Fatawu Issahaku reassures fans over fitness after Leicester victory

Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has allayed fears over his fitness after being forced off during Leicester City’s 2-0 victory against Birmingham City on Friday night.

The 20-year-old, who has been in fine form for the Foxes, opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the first half before Ricardo Pereira sealed the win late on, ending Birmingham’s unbeaten run at the King Power Stadium.

Issahaku, however, sparked concern when he went down clutching his knee and was substituted for Wout Faes. Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Black Stars forward reassured fans that the issue was not serious.

“I am just going to say thank you to the medical team… it’s just a blessing to be back like this again and running again,” Fatawu Issahaku said.

“It’s a good feeling, and thank God. It’s just cramps, tiredness, match fitness—but getting there,” he added.

Leicester will be counting on Issahaku to maintain his form as the season progresses. He is expected to return to the starting lineup when the Foxes face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium after the international break.
