Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante has revealed that lingering injury problems affected his performances during his first season at Coventry City.
The 25-year-old striker scored six goals in 43 appearances in his debut campaign but has started the new season in impressive fashion, netting twice in just three matches.
Speaking ahead of Coventry’s Championship clash against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium, where a win could temporarily send the Sky Blues to the top of the table, Thomas-Asante reflected on his improved form.
“As a striker, getting in the right positions is important as well, and I’m grateful to the staff,” he said.
“Last year, I was sort of trying to play through a bit of an injury and ended up being out for a little while. To feel good in my body now… I’m grateful that over the offseason, I could rest and get back to a state I’m happy with,” he added.
Despite his bright start, Thomas-Asante was omitted from Ghana’s squad for next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
He will now be looking to maintain his momentum and establish himself as a key figure in Frank Lampard’s attacking setup.
