Patients at Bibiani Government Hospital call for expanded NHIS drug list

Patients at Bibiani Government Hospital appeal for more drugs under NHIS

Patients at the Bibiani Government Hospital in the Western North Region are appealing to the Minister of Health to expand the list of medicines covered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

They say many of the drugs prescribed to them are not included in the NHIS, forcing them to purchase from private pharmacies at high costs.

The patients believe that broadening the NHIS drug list would reduce their financial burden and improve access to quality healthcare.

Hospital authorities have acknowledged the challenge and have also called for a review of the NHIS drug policy.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah has urged patients to continue adhering to the prescriptions of medical officers.
