Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has announced that from January 2026, the Authority will begin instant printing and issuance of driver’s licences.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Kotey acknowledged delays in licence issuance, citing challenges with suppliers and problematic data from 2022 and 2023.
He explained that the backlog has now been cleared and urged affected applicants to take advantage of free recapture to resolve any data issues.
“I have heard complaints about delayed licences. After meeting with the directors, I noticed we owed the supplier for the materials needed for printing. We have now resolved that issue and supplied the backlog of requests.
The challenges from 2022 and 2023 involve some problematic data, so I encourage anyone affected to recapture their licences for free. Instant printing and issuance will begin in January 2026, and there should be no backlog from next year,” he said.
