It’s untrue Bryan Acheampong financed Eastern Region delegates for Bawumia – Fred Oware

Fred Oware, Senior Advisor to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

Fred Oware, Senior Advisor to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has dismissed claims by fellow aspirant, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, that he financed delegates in the Eastern Region on Dr. Bawumia’s behalf.

According to Oware, such allegations are unfounded and only seek to undermine the credibility of the former Vice President’s victory in the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.

Speaking in an interview on Pure FM on Wednesday, August 27, Oware said Dr. Acheampong’s claims should be treated with contempt.

“It is simply not true that Bryan Acheampong paid delegates from the Eastern Region for Dr. Bawumia. His victory was built on his message, his track record, and the confidence that party members have in his leadership,” he stressed.

He further noted that the NPP’s internal election was free and fair, insisting that suggestions of vote-buying disrespected the integrity of the delegates.

“Our delegates are discerning; they made their choice based on conviction, not because someone lined their pockets. To suggest otherwise is to insult the entire electoral process of the party,” he argued.

Oware urged party members to remain united and focus on winning the 2028 general elections rather than entertaining divisive claims.

“We should not allow unfounded allegations to derail our collective efforts. Dr. Bawumia remains committed to leading the NPP to victory, and he will do so with honesty, humility, and dedication,” he added.
