The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces and other stakeholders, has intensified security operations in Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and surrounding communities in the Savannah Region following recent communal clashes.
Reinforcement teams have been deployed to maintain law and order and restore calm in the affected areas.
The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, is personally leading a delegation from the National Police Headquarters to assess the situation and engage traditional rulers, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders on measures to sustain peace.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 26, the Police urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel.
“We urge all parties to remain calm and work with the security teams to ensure lasting peace in the area,” the statement added.
