Residents of Konkonma, a suburb of Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region, are in shock and fear after a 39-year-old farmer, Tawiah Akwesi Nyakor, was discovered murdered on his farm.
The Twuafourhene of the Konkonma Traditional Area, Nana Kweku Asante, told Adom News that the incident reached him around 7 p.m. on Sunday.
He immediately mobilised the youth of the community to search for the missing farmer, only for them to discover his lifeless body hidden under the grass in the bush.
“The youth went into the bush to search for him and unfortunately found him dead with his throat slit, and his body covered with grass,” Nana Asante recounted.
The body has since been sent to the St. Matthias Hospital morgue for preservation while police investigations are underway.
The incident has left residents deeply unsettled, with many expressing fear for their safety.
Some community members told Adom News that they are now afraid to go to their farms, especially women farmers, who fear similar attacks.
“This is the first time something like this has happened here. We don’t know what will happen next, so people are scared to go to their farms,” one resident said.
Police are yet to provide further details on the incident.
