Fire destroys part of Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School in Kwahu Afram Plains South

The Nyamebekyere D/A Basic School in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District has been partially destroyed by fire, reportedly caused by faulty solar lights.

The incident has left pupils, teachers, and parents stranded, prompting urgent calls from the community for renovation works to ensure teaching and learning can resume smoothly.

  

District Chief Executive Moses Tangmee assured residents that the school would be renovated before reopening.

He also pledged that an abandoned classroom block in the area would be completed to improve access to quality education.

Meanwhile, the District Director of Education, Victoria Atsufui Yawa, appealed to community members to support the contractor during the renovation works to ensure timely completion.

She added that the new structure would meet the required standards for quality education once finished.

Residents expressed eagerness to see the school rehabilitated as soon as possible to minimize disruption to academic activities.
