Akyem Kotoku omanhene settles Anyinam Kotoku chieftaincy dispute

The Omanhene of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Dr Frimpong Manso IV, has advised kingmakers to ensure that only qualified individuals from royal families, who enjoy support from the masses, are nominated and installed as chiefs to minimise chieftaincy disputes.

He warned them not to be swayed by financial motives to nominate non-royals or unqualified individuals as traditional rulers.

Oseadeeyo Frimpong Manso attributed most chieftaincy litigations and their socio-economic problems in some traditional areas to the selection of unqualified individuals or those with dubious characters as chiefs.

The omanhene made the call when he addressed the two factions of Anyinam Kotoku embroiled in a chieftaincy dispute at his palace at Oda.

He warned kingmakers not to take the law into their own hands, but to consult those who matter before making their decisions, to avoid contravening established rules governing chieftaincy issues.

Legitimate

Oseadeeyo Frimpong Manso urged the two factions to recognise Nana Marfo Amparbeng II and Nana Bamfoa Konadu Yiadom I of the Bretuo Anakwa royal family as the legitimate chief and queenmother of the town, respectively.

He advised the two factions not to rejoice or otherwise, as there was no victor or vanquished in the peaceful resolution of the matter.

The two factions thanked the omanhene and his wing chiefs for peacefully resolving the issue and promised to follow the directives to promote peace and stability in the community.

Other speakers at the ceremony included the Krontihene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyereh and the Kotoku Gyaasehene, Obrempong Kwasi Amo Kyeretwie.
