GHALCA boss declines to reveal financial rewards for 2025 Top 4 tournament

John Ansah

Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), John Ansah, has declined to disclose details of the financial rewards for clubs participating in the 2025 Top 4 tournament, which kicks off today, August 20, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The opening fixture will see FA Cup winners Asante Kotoko face Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars at 15:00 GMT, followed by Hearts of Oak taking on Heart of Lions in the second match at 18:00 GMT.

Speaking in an interview with Woezor TV, Mr. Ansah explained that organisers are deliberately keeping the financial package confidential, similar to their approach during the President’s Cup.

“Unfortunately, we are not discussing financial rewards because we did the same with the President’s Cup, and we were at peace. The clubs who are involved and are the beneficiaries must know what is involved in terms of the financial rewards,” he said.

While withholding figures, the GHALCA chairman assured that the competition comes with prestigious honours.

“There is a trophy for the winner, and it has been in the system since we unveiled the Top 4 tournament. It has been going around, and it is a unique trophy. There are medals for the first two, and there are other things for the other two clubs to indicate their participation in the Top 4 tournament,” he added.

The annual Top 4 serves as a major pre-season competition, offering clubs a platform to assess their squads ahead of the new campaign.
