The Ministry of Health has strongly condemned the assault on health professionals at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), describing it as an act that endangers both patients and medical staff.
In a statement signed by Deputy Director and Spokesperson Tony Goodman, the Ministry said the attack, which occurred at the hospital’s emergency department, was a serious development that undermines critical healthcare delivery.
The Ministry announced immediate measures, including beefing up security at the facility and launching investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident, particularly the reported delay in care.
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has since visited the hospital to gather firsthand information and assured staff of the government’s full support and protection.
The Ministry also appealed to the public to exercise patience and mutual respect towards health workers to enable them to deliver effective and timely care.
