Chilling CCTV footage has captured a daring armed robbery at the Okyeso Nyame gold-buying shop in Mpohor, Western Region, where four suspects escaped with about GH¢800,000 and 100 pounds of gold.
The footage shows one of the suspects, now in police custody, seated calmly in front of the shop moments before the attack.
Posing as though in casual conversation, the gang appeared to be surveying the premises. Once the coast was clear, they launched the attack in broad daylight.
Two workers of the gold shop were violently manhandled, while a third unsuspecting victim walked into the crime scene and suffered the same ordeal.
At one point, a victim was beaten and attacked with a machete, leaving him injured, while two others who complied with the robbers’ demands were spared further assault.
The robbery, which lasted about seven minutes, saw the suspects ransack the premises before fleeing with their loot.
Police have since arrested one suspect, who is assisting with investigations, and a manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining accomplices.
The injured victim is responding to treatment, while police have assured the public that no effort will be spared in bringing the criminals to justice.
