At least eight people, including two children, are feared dead while several others sustained critical injuries in a fatal accident at the Kasoa tollbooth in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The crash occurred on Saturday and involved a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GW 7455-18, which was carrying passengers from Madina to Kasoa, and a private Jeep registered GR 7673-W, both moving in the same direction.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Jeep reportedly missed a U-turn and attempted to reverse on the highway, resulting in the speeding Sprinter bus crashing into the rear of the vehicle.
The impact caused the Sprinter to somersault multiple times, throwing passengers out onto the road.

Witnesses revealed that five people, including two children, died instantly, while others in critical condition were rushed to the Amamfrom Polyclinic and the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital for emergency treatment.
The accident also caused heavy traffic along the Accra–Kasoa stretch as police and rescue teams worked to clear the wreckage and assist victims.

Confirming the incident, Chief Inspector Joseph Mensah of the Amamfrom Police Station said investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
He urged motorists to avoid speeding and careless driving, emphasizing the need for patience and caution to prevent further loss of lives on the road.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue, while police continue to trace relatives of the victims.
