400 Youth enrolled in National Apprenticeship Programme in Ahafo Region

A total of 400 young people in the Ahafo Region have been enrolled in the government’s National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), an initiative aimed at reducing unemployment across the country.

The beneficiaries were officially welcomed at a matriculation ceremony in Goaso, which was attended by the Regional Minister, Members of Parliament, Municipal and District Chief Executives, traditional leaders, clergy, master craftsmen, and parents.

Deputy National Coordinator of NAP, Mukaramatu Ahmed, told Adom News that participants will receive startup kits to aid their training in trades such as hairdressing, fashion design, electrical works, tiling, and welding.

She added that, in addition to paying master craftsmen, government will also provide monthly allowances for trainees to prevent financial difficulties from pushing them out of the programme.

“I am very encouraged by the acceptance of this initiative by the people of Ahafo. With everyone’s support, we can make it a strong tool in tackling unemployment,” she said.

Regional Coordinator of NAP, Sulemana Baba Amadu, assured that strict monitoring and supervision mechanisms have been put in place to ensure accountability and value for money.

He revealed that regular checks at different intervals—daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly—will be conducted to confirm that all 400 beneficiaries are actively participating in the training as intended.
