Residents of Nartey, near Menang in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region, are in shock after a 27-year-old man allegedly killed his father by slitting his throat.
The tragic incident, which occurred on Wednesday, has plunged the entire community into mourning.
Witnesses said the suspect, identified as Richard Yeboah, had reportedly attempted to harm his father on two previous occasions before carrying out the fatal attack.
Robert Odami, Assembly Member for the Menang Electoral Area, confirmed the development to Adom News, describing the atmosphere in the community as tense and fearful.
Sert Agyiri, the Unit Committee Chairman for the area, disclosed that the New Edubiase Police have since arrested the suspect.
The body of the victim, 52-year-old farmer Akwasi Yeboah, also known as “Akwasi Yomo,” has been deposited at the New Edubiase Government Hospital mortuary.
Police investigations are ongoing.
