Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet has vowed to make history when his side takes on Ghana on Monday in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying clash.

The Eagles will visit the Accra Sports Stadium for the Group I Matchday 8 fixture, hoping to build on their recent momentum.

Mali currently sit third in the group with 12 points, following a commanding 3-0 victory over Comoros in Matchday 7.

Speaking to the press after arriving in Ghana, Saintfiet acknowledged the strength of Otto Addo’s Black Stars but stressed his team’s ambition to defy the odds.

“Ghana is the best team in our group. They are 4 points ahead of us, but we are here to make history and win here,” he said.

“We will make everything possible to qualify for the World Cup,” he added.

The highly anticipated encounter is set to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
