2026 WCQ: Thomas Partey makes Black Stars squad for Chad, Mali games despite rape allegations charges

Thomas Partey

Ghana coach Otto Addo has named Thomas Partey in his squad for next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

The Villarreal midfielder, who missed the recent Unity Cup in London, returns to the Black Stars setup despite being involved in an ongoing legal case in England.

Also earning a place in the team is Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn, who has been handed his maiden call-up.

He joins a core of regulars including Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Mohammed Kudus.

Ghana will open their September fixtures with an away clash against Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.

The Black Stars currently lead Group I with six matches played, three points clear of Comoros in second and five ahead of Madagascar in third.

With momentum on their side, Ghana remain firmly in the hunt for a fifth World Cup appearance.
