2026 WCQ: Sports Minister rallies Black Stars ahead of Mali clash

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has thrown his weight behind the Black Stars as they prepare for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali.

Ghana will face the Eagles on Monday, September 8, at the Accra Sports Stadium in a must-win Matchday 8 encounter.

Ahead of the game, the Minister visited the national team’s camp on Saturday to inspire the players.

Addressing the squad, Mr. Adams reminded them of their individual quality, international experience, and the expectations of millions of Ghanaians, while urging them to rise to the occasion.

“I know what you’re capable of. There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around,” Hon. Adams told the squad.

In response, the team and technical staff assured the Minister of their determination to deliver a strong performance on Monday.

The Black Stars, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Chad in N’Djamena last Thursday, are under pressure to secure maximum points to consolidate their qualification hopes.

Ghana currently top Group I with 16 points from seven matches as the race to the 2026 Mundial in the USA, Canada, and Mexico intensifies.
