Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has admitted his side’s performance in the 1-1 draw with Chad was far from the standard required in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana, aiming to extend their winning run in Group I, were pegged back late on in N’Djamena on Thursday.
Jordan Ayew had given the visitors the lead in the 17th minute, but Celestine Ecua struck with just two minutes remaining to secure a point for the hosts.
Addressing the media after the game, the 48-year-old coach did not hide his disappointment.
“I can’t say we played excellently or we played well because it was a draw. The result is everything…we had a lot of corners, we did nothing out of that,” he said.
“We had a lot of shots, attempts on goal, we had a lot of ball possession, and normally we have to win this game. This, in the end, surely, is not good enough, and we have to improve, especially on our execution,” Addo.
The Black Stars remain top of Group I with 16 points despite the setback. They now shift focus to their next assignment, a crucial Matchday 8 clash against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, with kick-off at 19:00 GMT.
