2026 WCQ: Chad’s Raoul Savoy backs Ghana to qualify

Black Stars

Chad head coach Raoul Savoy has expressed confidence that Ghana will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the Black Stars dropping points in their recent encounter.

Otto Addo’s side were held to a 1-1 draw in N’Djamena, as Celestine Ecau cancelled out an early strike from Jordan Ayew, leaving both teams to share the spoils.

After seven games, Ghana leads Group I with 16 points, with just three matches remaining in the qualifiers.

Savoy, however, believes that Ghana’s position at the top of the group leaves little room for error.

“It will be a big failure if Ghana fails to qualify because they are now in a good position, and it will be a mess if they fail to qualify from this group because I think the other teams are not ready for this World Cup,” he told GhanaSportsPage.com.

“I tip Ghana to qualify over other teams; if not, it will be a professional failure,” Savoy added.

The Black Stars will look to maintain their march toward Qatar 2026 when they host Mali on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium in a crucial Matchday 8 clash. Kick-off is set for 19:00 GMT.
