Mining guru Ibrahim Mahama has supported Ghana’s 2026 World Cup preparations, with his company, Engineers & Planners, committing $5 million as the headline sponsor of the Black Stars’ fundraising campaign.
The announcement was made on Friday during a ceremony at the Kempinski Hotel, where stakeholders gathered to officially launch the initiative.
The campaign is designed to mobilise resources to support the national team’s logistics, training programmes, and overall readiness ahead of the global showpiece.
The funding drive is crucial to ensuring Ghana competes at the highest level when the tournament kicks off.
Engineers & Planners’ contribution represents one of the most substantial corporate interventions in recent years, underlining the Mahama family’s continued involvement in the development of sport in the country.
The financial boost is expected to significantly enhance preparations for the Black Stars as they gear up for the tournament to be staged across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, setting up a demanding path to the knockout stages.
Government, meanwhile, is targeting a total of $30 million through the fundraising drive to fully support Ghana’s participation at the Mundial.
