Union Berlin defender Derrick Köhn is eager to make an impact in the Black Stars as Ghana prepares for the 2026 World Cup.
The 27-year-old right-back has been included in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month, viewing the matches as a key opportunity to cement his place in the team.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Köhn stressed his determination to impress head coach Otto Addo, noting that the friendlies are more than warm-ups—they are a chance to secure a regular spot ahead of football’s biggest stage.
“Personally, I want to play well in the Austria and Germany games so that Otto Addo would have no chance to keep me out of the squad for the World Cup,” Köhn said.
Ghana will face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart for the clash against Germany on March 30.
The former Hannover 96 player, who made his Ghana debut in late 2025, will be competing with established players like Gideon Mensah for a starting role.
