The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that the Black Stars will play additional international friendly matches in May and June as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will feature at the global tournament, which is set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico this summer.

Earlier preparations include friendly matches against Austria and Germany scheduled for March. Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, the Buem Member of Parliament confirmed that further test matches have been lined up ahead of the tournament.

“The Black Stars will play additional friendlies in May and June before the World Cup, after the matches against Austria and Germany,” Adams said.

Drawn in Group L, Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England in Boston on June 23. The Black Stars will conclude their group-stage fixtures against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

Following early exits at the group stages in Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022, Ghana will be hoping for a stronger showing when the 2026 World Cup kicks off.
