2026 WAFCONQ: Egypt to host Black Queens at Ismailia-Suez Canal Stadium

Egypt will host Ghana’s Black Queens at the historic Ismailia-Suez Canal Stadium in the first leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

The crucial encounter is slated for Wednesday, October 23, 2025, with kickoff set for 19:00 local time.

Both teams will be eager to gain an early advantage in their bid to secure a spot at next year’s continental showpiece in Morocco.

Led by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, the Black Queens will be aiming to build on their impressive form from the last WAFCON, where they finished third to claim a bronze medal.

The Ghanaians are determined to make another strong statement on the road before welcoming the Egyptians to the Accra Sports Stadium for the return leg.

Meanwhile, CAF has appointed South African referee Akhona Zennith Makalima to take charge of the game.

She will be assisted by compatriot Nandipha Menze as Assistant Referee I and Mphtaso Mphtaso Mamete from Malawi as Assistant Referee II. Fellow Malawian Eness M. Gumbo will serve as the Fourth Official.

The match will be supervised by Teresa Ouko Calleb from Kenya, who serves as the Match Commissioner, with Alice Damaris Wangari Kimani, also from Kenya, appointed as the Referee Assessor.

With qualification on the line and both sides boasting plenty of attacking talent, fans can expect a fiercely contested night of top-tier women’s football at the iconic Ismailia-Suez Canal Stadium.
