2026 WAFCON: Black Queens to know group opponents today

Ghana’s Black Queens will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) today, as the tournament draw is set to take place in Rabat, Morocco.

The Black Queens, who secured the bronze medal in the previous edition, are among 16 teams competing in the continental tournament, which also serves as the qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s side is seeded in Pot 1 alongside heavyweights Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa. Potential group-stage opponents will be drawn from the following pots:

  • Pot 2: Zambia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria
  • Pot 3: Senegal, Mali, Egypt, Burkina Faso
  • Pot 4: Cape Verde, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi

The 2026 WAFCON is scheduled to kick off on March 17, with the final set for April 3.
