Algeria head coach Vladimir Petkovic has expressed confidence ahead of his team’s opening Group E match against Sudan on Wednesday, December 24.
The Desert Foxes will kick off their campaign at Moulay Hassan Stadium at 15:00 GMT.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, the Bosnian tactician highlighted his belief in the squad’s quality and collective ambition, insisting Algeria have the tools to progress beyond the group stage.
“I am confident. I sincerely believe that we have what it takes to qualify for the second round. My role is to pass that conviction on to the players and show them that we can achieve good things together,” Petkovic said, as reported by CAF.
He also assessed Algeria’s Group E opponents, warning that Sudan are energetic, well-organised, and dangerous with the ball. He added that Burkina Faso are among the favourites in the group due to the depth of their squad, while Equatorial Guinea remain familiar but challenging opponents.
“As for Equatorial Guinea, we have already faced them and encountered difficulties. That obliges us to prepare very rigorously, while remaining faithful to our identity,” Petkovic added.
