At the DUN’s Park, Bibiani GoldStars bounced back to winning ways with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Heart of Lions, ending the visitors’ unbeaten run in the process.
Richard Kotey opened the scoring for the Miners in the 36th minute, giving the home side a narrow lead at the break.
After the restart, GoldStars maintained their dominance, and Sampson Eduku doubled the advantage in the 54th minute.
Heart of Lions pulled one back through Kwadwo Obeng Junior on the hour mark, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Kumi Attah converted a penalty in the 82nd minute to seal a deserved 3-1 win for GoldStars.
The result ends GoldStars’ two-game losing streak and lifts them to seventh on the league table with nine points and a game in hand. Heart of Lions, meanwhile, drop to fourth with 11 points.
GoldStars will next host Berekum Chelsea in midweek before travelling to Accra to face Hearts of Oak, while Heart of Lions will welcome Basake Holy Stars to the Kpando Sports Stadium.
At the Swedru Sports Stadium, Eleven Wonders’ struggles continued as they were held to a goalless draw by Karela United.
Wonders remain winless after six games, sitting 17th with just two points. Karela United occupy eighth place with nine points.
Eleven Wonders will look to secure their first victory of the season when they visit Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, while Karela United host Bechem United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
