Matchday 17 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League delivered a weekend of drama and decisive moments across the country, with results that reshaped both the title race and the relegation battle.

The round of fixtures kicked off on Friday at the Hohoe Stadium, where Hohoe United were held to a goalless draw by regional rivals Heart of Lions. The stalemate proved costly for the home side, as the club moved swiftly to part ways with head coach Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru shortly after the final whistle.

Sunday’s action saw Vision FC claim a surprise 1-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. Meshack Adjetey’s first-half strike was enough to hand the visitors all three points and stun the home supporters.

In the Bono Derby, Bechem United edged past Berekum Chelsea with a narrow 1-0 win. After a quiet first half, Emmanuel Abban struck in the 62nd minute to secure a hard-fought victory for the Hunters.

Dreams FC enjoyed a comfortable afternoon at the Tuba Astro Turf, recording a 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars. Second-half goals from Seidu Suraj and Kelvin Ahiable sealed the result for the hosts.

At the University of Ghana Stadium, Eleven Wonders were involved in a thrilling encounter but ultimately fell 3-2 to defending champions Bibiani GoldStars. Eden Kofi Asamoah opened the scoring early for the home side, before Bright Boakye Kyereh levelled matters. Kumi Attah then restored GoldStars’ lead, only for Willian Danquah to equalise before the break. The champions grabbed the decisive goal in the 53rd minute through Emmanuel Agyei.

Nations FC and Karela United played out a goalless draw at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, while FC Samartex secured a solid 2-0 victory over Young Apostles at the Nsenkyire Arena, with goals from Akwasi Sarpong and Christian Agyenim Boateng, one in each half.

Swedru All Blacks produced one of the weekend’s biggest upsets, defeating Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Swedru Stadium. Roland Leveh opened the scoring for the hosts before Morifing Donzo equalised for Kotoko. Rudolf Mensah struck late in the first half to restore All Blacks’ advantage, which they held on to for a crucial win.

At the TNA Park, Medeama SC tightened their grip at the top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak. After a scoreless first half, Salim Adams’ 75th-minute effort proved decisive.

At the end of Matchday 17, Medeama SC sit top of the standings, followed by Bibiani GoldStars, Asante Kotoko and Aduana FC in the top four. At the other end of the table, Hohoe United, Berekum Chelsea and Eleven Wonders remain in the relegation zone.
