Heart of Lions returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3–0 triumph over Basake Holy Stars at Kpando Sports Stadium on Friday, in Matchweek 7 of the Premier League.
The Kpando-based side delivered a dominant display, preserving their perfect home record for the season, just days after suffering a defeat to Gold Stars earlier in the week.
The Lions took control early, creating multiple scoring opportunities before breaking the deadlock in the 36th minute. Michael Ephson’s low drive hit the post, with Kwadwo Obeng Junior quickest to react and slot home the rebound to give the hosts the lead.
Ephson, a constant threat in the first half, doubled the advantage just before halftime, calmly finishing to send Heart of Lions into the break in full control.
After the interval, Basake Holy Stars tried to mount a response but were consistently denied by a disciplined Lions defence. The hosts sealed the victory in style when substitute Anthony Owusu unleashed a sensational long-range strike from his own half late in the game, completing the 3–0 rout.
The result keeps Heart of Lions unbeaten at home and boosts their position in the league table, while Basake Holy Stars remain without a win or goal this season.
Looking ahead, Heart of Lions will travel to face Swedru All Blacks in Matchweek 8, while Basake Holy Stars will aim to get back on track when they host Hearts of Oak.
